My VET Success Story

The knowledge and network I gained from the VET Dance course also allowed me to gain employment in the performing arts industry, giving me the opportunity to earn money while I was at university. I was also fortunate enough to help teach the VET Dance course and many other classes at Isolation Performing Arts Studio. It was great to be able to pass on my skills and knowledge to the next generation of students.

My Advice

Take every opportunity to gain experience and knowledge from industry-based teachers and professionals. If you can combine a passion of yours with school it makes learning so much easier and enjoyable because you’re excited to go to class every week!

Partnership Agreement VCE VET Dance

Partnerships with Secondary Colleges

This option requires your school to have a staff member who is suitably qualified to run the VCE VET Dance program at your school. We are happy to help you find a trainer if needed or link you up with another school to form a cluster group.

VET Dance is a niche subject and often overlooked by schools as a Certificate offered due to low numbers of student enrolments. Dance Training Organisation is pleased to be able to offer partnerships with schools, with any number of students, to enable them to easily include Dance in their subject offerings.

Dance Training Organisation (DTO) (RTO: 45789) has been created to specifically serve dance education. We are committed to delivering a high quality. Vocational Education and Training (VET) Dance program to students, helping support them to transition into the performing arts industry.

The Senior Secondary Pathways reform recommends that ‘students have access to a ‘core offering’ of VET Delivery to Secondary Schools (VDSS) Certificates’ and DTO is contacting schools to offer support in developing local solutions to provide students with access to these core VDSS offering, as VET Dance (Certificate III in Dance) is suggested as an acceptable certificate from the further pathways list.

DTO can help support schools in several ways:

  • Implement the VET Dance program on site, providing resources and ongoing support to one of the schools suitably qualified teachers throughout the process or by providing an experienced VET dance teacher to deliver the program.
  • Enroll students with an experienced non-school senior secondary provider (e.g. dance studio) in after-hours classes. Enrolment counting towards the students VCE credits.
  • Connect schools with one of our current partner secondary schools who run VET subjects through a cluster arrangement.
  • A blended learning in person/online program for rural schools.

DTO prides itself on delivering high-quality programs and quality student outcomes. We supply all learning materials and assessment resources to support the delivery of the VCE-VET Dance program, including scored assessment for VCE-VET unit 3 and 4 sequence. We provide students with industry and employer exposure; through training, workshops and lectures with current industry professionals.

The VCE VET Dance program is drawn from a national training package and offers a portable qualification which is recognised throughout Australia.

This qualification provides students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training in the live performance industry.
