Assistant Teaching Program

DTO Assistant Teaching Program

CUA30320 – Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching

Studio owners often grapple with common challenges when considering assistant teachers:

So we have answered a few questions here:

Payment: How do we compensate assistants, if at all?

Payment Philosophy: Instead of paying assistants, we believe in teaching them. The DTO program allows you to invest in your students’ future careers by teaching them how to teach. No longer do they need to enter the dance world with excellent dance training and only the little teaching experience you may have been able to give them. Whether they aspire to perform or own a studio, at some point, most students will need to teach to make ends meet. We can teach them how to do that, improving the future quality of the industry.

Time Allocation: How much class time should be dedicated to teaching assistants compared to the actual students in the class?

Structured Program: We offer a comprehensive program with clear class objectives. This empowers students to understand what they need to achieve when assisting with classes and encourages them to ask relevant questions, reducing the burden on trainers.

Age Range: Which age group is best suited for this role?

Age Recommendations: The DTO program is a Certificate III designed for your senior students (we suggest aged 13 as the youngest). We understand some studios start their assistants younger, and we can recommend alternative courses for younger students that lead into our accredited program Student

Benefit: Is this program primarily beneficial for the student?

Student Benefits: Government-Backed Accreditation: Graduates earn a fully government-backed accreditation. This qualification can lead to various other programs, including The Dance Teaching and Management course you can also offer at your studios, offering a broader array of career opportunities in the dance industry.

Studio Benefits: A good assistant teacher can be a help in classes, but what other benefits are there for us investing time and energy?

Studio Benefits: New revenue stream Retention of older students Enhanced credibility as a leader in training Access to a better quality of teachers for your studio Train future teachers according to your standards Processes.

Collaboration with DTO: Students collaborate with Dance Teacher Online to gain theoretical knowledge in teaching methodologies, safe dance practices, and other essential aspects. This equips them to be valuable assets in any class they assist in at your studio.

Course Duration: The Assistant Dance Teaching Program spans 2 years, allowing ample time for students to hone their skills and knowledge.

Delivery Method: Our program is designed to accommodate busy schedules. Assistants work in their usual classes alongside experienced dance teachers. Theory components are delivered online for convenience, ensuring flexibility and accessibility. Contact us to see if this program is right for you.
